The huge Lindwyrm from Nordic Mythology, Fafnir, makes a strike towards the hero Sigurd, who’s ready to defend himself until the last man standing. Fafnir guards a huge golden treasure, which Sigurd obtains after his victorious battle against Fafnir. However, the treasure is not only beautiful, it carries a strong curse. The cursed treasure surely brings wealth, but its curse also leads to Sigurd's own certain doom. This classical Nordic tale is over 1000 years old, and is a personal favorite of mine. It teaches how greed and a too intense search for glory can blind you to such an extent that you end up regretting ever knowing about the golden treasure in the first place. Not everything that makes us rich exists in the materialistic world. The tale of Sigurd and Fafnir has been carved down on ancient Runestones in Sweden, showcasing the impact of this incredible tale. Truly timeless.
